The Lyrics

Yep - the Saga continues! This one covers the meeting between Frodo and Galadriel, where they look into her magic mirror/bowl of water.

And here's a link to the original song - a surprisingly beautiful one, considering one half of the duo usually does R&B rapper-type stuff, apparently.

You’re quite tall and you glow
Makes me feel good, yeah
But won’t make out with elf queens
Because you’re scary, with all you know

You’ve been around so long, could be five hundred and ninety
And filled your brain with stuff, it must be almighty
If I ask you nice…

Would you let me peep into your water-bowl?
‘Cause you just breathed deep across its surface
And I’ve got to know, what’s the hot news, so -
I wanna see inside
Just a quick sneak peep into your water-bowl tonight

I’m not sure you should know
It don’t look good, does it?
All quite a horror show
We can’t avoid this getting dirty

Elf rings won’t stop Sauron because we’ve already tried them
Can’t find us elves ‘cos I use this one to hide them
But that ruse is fried…

Now we’ve been seen peeping in this water-bowl
Knew it would be creepy and disturbing
But that’s tough now hun’, seen enough now hun’?
‘Specially that big eye?
And he’s seen us peeping in this water-bowl tonight
Woah… oh shite…

(FRODO: Here’s the Ring, take the Ring)
(FRODO: Why not?)

BOTH: Because there’s such a thing as too much power
No matter what the Shire would still be scoured
GALADRIEL: And they all will love me, but in despair
FRODO: Since that’s not fair -
BOTH: I guess that’s a no…

Now you’ve let me peep into your water-bowl
And it’s scared me, hope this quest is worth it
Though I know it’s fate, I’m put off now mate
‘Cos flippin’ heck I could die!
Why’d you make me peep into your water-bowl tonight?
GALADRIEL: Ohhh… errr… ohhh…
FRODO: Tell me why?
GALADRIEL: Needed to be dutiful…
FRODO: Oh, alright…
BOTH: We are servin’ Middle-Earth then … ohhh
FRODO: I won’t forget this peep into your water-bowl tonight

Sorry for late comment Wendy - I've been out of the loop for a while, so first catch-up task was to check out your latest LOTR entries. Good fit as usual, I see.
Here's my theory, left of left-field like all my theories: a major fault of the whole Peter Jackson series is that the elves are played by human actors. They should have all been CG for that total ethereal, super-human mystique. As it is, they're too theatrical, too Shakespearan to be convincing. Human actors with pointy ears is too 'Trekky'. I'm sure Cate Blanchett, Hugo Weaving et al. would be very pleased to hear this - and a lot poorer and less famous. Great performances from them though, no question.
