A few days ago director Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott, got bad medical news and drove to a LA bridge where he jumped 200 ft to his death in front of many boaters and a sight-seeing cruise ship! Some say that he had inoperable cancer in his brain while his family denies it. He left 2 suicide notes- 1 in his car and another at home. He was 68 years old and had been a great director since "Top Gun" in 1984. He will be sadly missed :(

It's sad, but I guess he wanted to direct, and star in his own final, mini, disaster movie
What's really sad and reported is that some people are asking now if "Top Gun 2" is gonna be made! The fans of the original did not want a sequel but now that there will be no more Tony Scott films, it probably WILL be made. Unless it is really good I think that it would be both a mistake and a poor tribute to Tony. The F-14 is gone anyway and Cruise is getting old. "Batlleship" was all but a promotion to join the Navy and showed off a lot of tech and that film didn't do that good this year, so "TG2" might be just awful.
A shame. They say that the onlookers at first thought it was a stunt he was performing. Top Gun, incidentally, is one of the few movies I have actually seen.
I liked "True Romance" the best. "The Last Boy Scout" with Bruce Willis is one of my favorite bad movies. His suicide is shocking and very sad. I feel kind of bad for the onlookers too, though, especially the little kids.
Truth to be told, a lot of his films sucked. But "Enemy of the State" is great, IMO.
I have many of his movies: "Top Gun", "Man on Fire", "Deja Vu", "True Romance", "Unstoppable", "Crimson Tide",
"Beverly Hills Cop 2", "Domino" and "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3". I like most of his flicks, sad he is gone.
