The Lyrics

This is about the SyFy Channel shorts "The Mercury Men" which tells this story: Synopsis: Pittsburgh, 1975. Edward Borman, a lowly government office drone, finds himself trapped when the deadly men of Mercury seize his office building as a staging ground for their nefarious plot. Aided by Jack Yaeger, a daring aerospace engineer from a mysterious organization known as "The League," Edward must stop the invaders and their doomsday device, the Gravity Engine. Drawing from the same retro serials that inspired such films as Star Wars and Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, "The Mercury Men" reintroduces audiences to the great mystery, danger, and suspense the stories were originally known for. Basically the Mercurians are the "Men of Light" that are obsessed with the "Dirt Creature" man who has broken gravity and travelled to the moon. Viewed as a threat they take over Ed's office building to use with a Gravity Engine to create a gravity well to pull the moon into the Earth within hours and destroy all of mankind. Ed is scared but learns to become a hero with the aid of "The League's" man Jack and the inspiration of Doctor Tomorrow. The enemy- The Great Designer uses "The Brain" to direct the Mercurian engineers to build and operate the Gravity Engine. Ed and Jack must stop them and save the Earth!
Borman is scared of
The Men from Mercury
Can they move the moon?
Well… maybe… we’ll see

“The League” has got a plan
Sent their best technologist
To stop a Gravity Engine
But Ed Borman needs to assist

They have to save the moon
Mercurians using building steel
As power base for a gravity well
Seems so unreal, yet still a big deal

Got to disable it
Only precious minutes
Kill the “Men of Light”
Jack has got to get Ed “in it” (the fight to save Earth)

(Chorus)
What’s their evil purpose?
For the Mercury Men?
To pull down the moon,
Put an end to man?
Are we such a threat,
Landed on the moon ‘cause we can?
Creature of dirt superior
The Great Designer demands our end!

Abomination? Man’s demonstration, of
Breaking gravity, Mercurians obsession?
Abomination? Man’s demonstration, of
Breaking gravity, Mercurians obsession?

Lightning strikes down halls
Fearsome energy bursts
But Jack has a Ray Pistol
Return bursts

Ed is useful
but scared and immature
Braver now than ever
will save the Earth for sure
(Survival was the cure)

Back to the moon
It’s Ed and Jack at war
No easy feat, they
Don’t know what is in store

What’s their evil purpose?
For the Mercury Men?
To pull down the moon,
Put an end to man?
Are we such a threat,
Landed on the moon ‘cause we can?
Creature of dirt superior
The Great Designer demands our end!

Abomination? Man’s demonstration, of
Breaking gravity, Mercurians obsession?
Abomination? Man’s demonstration, of
Breaking gravity, Mercurians obsession?

Above of all,
Doctor Tomorrow gives Ed hope
That HE must defeat their nefarious plan
Rescue Jack and learn to cope!!!

Ed Borman, office worker, is about to become a hero…

You know they could have pulled Mercury down to Earth too and melt it, but I am a nature lover, and would not want that to really happen if it could. Great parody and story! 5's! :-)

It's just a series of shorts that run 7-8 mins each. They are up to Ep.7 and the next 3 will debut on August 3rd-5th.

On Comcast Cable On-Demand under Cutting Edge/SyFy all 7 Episodes are available 101-107. I watched all 7 yesterday and was on the edge of my seat with each one just like the old serials. The show has an incredibly low $7000 budget!!! Yet even in B&W it has awesome SPFX on a shoestring and genuine curiosity with the Gravity Engine and pulling the moon towards the earth- the shots of the US flag and footprints on the moon being sucked away is really cool. Jack carries a modified revolver which shoots rays while the Mercurians shoot self-generating lighting bolts. Although set in 1975, obvious errors are modern signs, elevator controls, and other office equipment. But heck- it's just fun to watch with little dialogue and some creepy music and light effects!
