The Lyrics
The British are at it again to go even faster than the Thrust SSC, pushing from 763 mph (beyond Mach 1) up to 1000 mph. The new car is the Bloodhound SSC to be powered by a Eurofighter Typhoon EJ200 jet engine above the body and a rocket engine to the rear that will provide a combined 42,000 lbs thrust (equivalent to 180 F1 race cars) to get the car initially up to 300 mph and then up to 1000 mph goal. An aux. 800 hp engine is kept in reserve to run the rocket oxidizer pump. RAF pilot Andy Green will again put his life on the line for the run estimated for 2013. He will experience between 2-3Gs and may black-out, so he will be flying jet aircraft regularly to condition himself. The car itself is nicknamed the "Flaming Pencil" due to the elongated body. This is a $16 million dollar project already, but I believe that the British will reach the goal again.
