Assad is never going to compromise to the extent that lasting peace can be secured. He's a vile tyrant who has connected Syria to Lebanese terrorism and Iranian nuclear development, both of which are aimed at Israel.
I think that IF or now WHEN Israel unilaterally hits Iran that they should take out Syria too b/c of the missile barrage threat. But possibly Assad and Ahmadinejad would like an attack to divert attention away from their corrup, out-dated regimes!
