When the day, for my pay, comes around,
And I look out for the mailman,
And I think of all the bills I must pay –
If I don’t I’ll go to jail-man

He comes around the corner drops the payslip through my door,
And I tear the perforations, see the numbers I adore.

Why can’t I have a big fat salary? Salary!

Are they just taking the piss, what the bloody hell is this,
What’s this tax deduction?
Student loans and NIC, taken all my dignity,
With more reductions
Can’t go shopping anywhere, I shall have to cut my hair
And hide away now
Or I’ll have to pay the fines I’ve been dodging all the time,
But I don’t know how

Cos the bailiff’s at the window and the wolves are at the door
And the gasman’s going crazy ‘cause the red bills I ignore
How much could I get for, my retinas or a kidney?

When I’m due, for review, And the boss’s deciding who
Will get promotions.
I shall tell the man goodbye, be self-employed and teach all my, Business notions:

Sell sand to the Egyptians, selling snow to Eskimos,
Selling ice to the Alaskans just to watch my profits grow.
Oil to the Arabs, and then the whole world will see,
