The Lyrics

Summer is winding down and the kids are getting back to school. My first day of school was always the day after Labor Day. But now the kids go back a lot earlier making the summer even shorter. It was always a sad time for me, I hated to see the summer end. Summer vacation was always a great time for a kid. But remember those long trips you used to take in the car every summer when you were a kid? Going on vacation or visiting family far away. It seemed like you would never get there. And no matter how hard you tried, you and your siblings just couldn't behave in the back seat for very long. And you would always get those threats from Mom or Dad in the front seat, but they never really followed through on them. Until one day...
Loaded car makes lane change
From the back-seat; screams
Another mile, another frown
And a-round my Mom spins
"Stop or I'll whack you two!"

Rumbled out, 'fore daylight
Trip's a boring pain
Clock tick tock, siblings fought
And Mom would plead:
"Quit it back there you!"

You be good, don't pout, you
Yeah be good, don’t shout you!
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times have I told you no chatter?
Over the line now you're mine, you'll be battered
Don't make me turn this car around!
Give me a break my head aches, stop the clatter
All I can take stop your whine, I'll get madder
I swear I'll turn this car around!

Oh mama mia what a fight
Guess that we were wrong
Acting up in back seat
And blind to it all
Me and my sister Sue

We're no good, oh mama
Yeah no good, dear mama
Yeah, yeah, yeah

How many times did she say don't touch sister?
Better not gripe and just pipe it down mister!
Don't make me turn this car around!
This is no fake I will brake and you'll scatter
She jammed the brakes at the light our teeth chattered
And then she turned the car around!

Oh, we'll be good, we'll be good, mama
Be so good, be so good now, now-ow-ow-owww!

This was the time, no Mom fake, not a veiled threat
Too many times that we whined, "Are we there yet?"
And then Mom turned the car around!
Made the tires squeal spun the wheel, Mom was freaking
Partners in crime we're like mimes, we're not speaking
Shocked; Mom turned the car around!

Now we behave when we take trips together
Mom had enough it's no bluff, now we're better
We know she'll turn the car around
Don't want her turn that car around
Don't make her turn this thing around!

Great use of OS for this topic, Blackjack21! "(Older sis): Stop touching me! (Younger bro): I'm not touching you. I'm....not.....touching.....YOU!!...(Older sis): Mom, he's making faces at me again! (Younger bro): I am not!...(Kids): Are we there yet? Are we there yet? (Mom or Dad, whoever drives): If you kids don't cut that out, I'm turning this car around!"....I'm just stating examples. I don't miss those days. I'm glad me and my bro don't fight like that anymore! But every summer we drive the long way to Florida! It gets boring and tiring. Made me wish we could afford air fare! I also feel sad that summer ends and/or almost ends. I would hate August because it's a sign that summer will end soon and it get cooler sometimes. I would never look forward to go back to school. But it's a good thing I'm not in school anymore, but I miss hanging with my friends there. Anyways, take some peaceful 555's!

OMG! Can *I* relate!!! I don't recall ever flying anywhere when my sisters and I were growing up-- always the car. Dad always drove through the night, *claiming* that it was because traffic was lighter then... But now I know that it was because we'd be sleeping! :D

Haha! Love it! We can all relate. I once had a bunch of kids of a friend cutting up on a trip to a movie so badly I actually did turn around. I felt so bad and stopped for ice cream and took them to a later show. :-D

Christie: Glad it tripped your memories, thanks for v/c!

Fiddlegirl: LOL! I had an idea for a Fiddlegirl parody/tribute I wanted to do. You do trust me, right? :-)

DJ: Believe it or not, there were no handheld games, iPods, cell phones or TVs w/DVD in the car when I was a kid. We could read, sleep or cause trouble. I usually did the latter. :-D

meta4s: Those kids played you , dude. ;-) Glad you liked it.

Ribber: Just a little farther. Just a little farther. Just a little farther. Just a little...You knock it off or I'll give you something to cry about! Thanks. :-)

Mark: Glad you enjoyed the trip, thanks for the smack talk. ;-)

AFW: Verbal thanks to you. :-)
