A brief chronicle of the Bush regime, written in early 2007, complete with paranoid and impossible ending. Strangely enough, the 2007 prediction has essentially come true, although I expect that the last three should not.
Greetings, people of the year 2000. My fellow associates and I, we come from the future; that's right, the future.
We have many stories to tell, and the most important one has to do with your upcoming election. Those of you in Florida thinking about voting for Bush, we have a few reasons why you shouldn't.
In the year 2001, we searched for a smoking gun
In the wreckage of the World Trade Center site
In the year 2002, France began to hate us too
And only the UK thought that we were right
In the years we've yet to see
We do not know, but we agree
That if you vote for Bush you'll seal the push
Toward US infamy
In the year 2003, we killed scores of Iraqis
And declared 'mission accomplished' much too soon
In the year 2004, Democrats had failed once more
Cementing status as a nation of buffoons
In the years we do not know
There are no rights, no place to go
And there will be no choice, you'll have no voice
Democracy? Well, no;
It's so
In the year 2005, hurricanes did soon arrive
And the government did a heck of a job
In the year 2006, Cheney had a few picnics
And his friend received some buckshot in his gob
In the years we've yet to see
We do not know, but we agree
That if you vote for Bush you'll seal the push

In the year 2007 mortgages defaulted to heaven
And our dollar took a large chunk of the heat
In the year 2008 we all realized our fate
When term limits now had infinite repeats
In the year 2009 drafts were placed for those who whine
Or were registered Democrats or not Protestant
In the year 2010 Bush was finally killed; but then
Cheney was sworn in as acting president

Um...what? Pete Rose and I are now betting that what you fear in 2008 won't happen
I'm more concern with people on 2012.
Of course your last 3 won't come true. That's because GWB will leave office in January 2009, and someone else will take over (whoever is elected in November 2008, that is). So Cheney can't be swron in in 2010.
That was the entire point. The song is written from a fatalist's point of view.
