Original Song Title:

"Church on Sunday"

Original Performer:

Green Day

Parody Song Title:

"My Dance Recital Lament"

Parody Written by:

Pink Panther

The Lyrics

If I was a guy, it would seem weird for me to do dance. But I'm not a guy, I'm a girl, so that's okay. I wrote this backstage at my recital last Friday. I did horrible, and I was so embarrassed I actually cried. We had the same recital the next night, though. Read on to find out about my misfortune and my Friday night breakdown.
(Ooh)

Today is a day that I really
Hate my life,
Tomorrow I'll dance again and hope everything's all right, yeah
I'm not getting any better 'cause I
Keep screwing up at recital
Tomorrow I'll see that yesterday never was

Sad from defeat, I can't sleep
Making my mascara bleed
Tears down my face
That got there 'cause of my mistakes

(When I say)

[CHORUS:]
I better damn well do good tomorrow
To scratch how I did on Friday night
If I don't do good, I'll die for sure
Though I don't want to

I won't say that I did well 'cause that's
Not the truth
And I don't want to hear that I did good at all from you, no
"Good Job" are two words that will make
Me know you're a liar
But your praise is something I will earn
If I have faith

Sad from defeat, I can't sleep
Making my mascara bleed
Tears down my face
That got there 'cause of my mistakes

(When I say)

[CHORUS:]
I better damn well do good tomorrow
To scratch how I did on Friday night
If I don't do good, I'll die for sure
Though I don't want to

I better damn well do good tomorrow
To scratch how I did on Friday night
If I don't do good, I'll die for sure
Though I don't want to

(Oh no!)

(Ooh, ooh, ooh)

(Whoa...)

[CHORUS:]
I better damn well do good tomorrow
To scratch how I did on Friday night
If I don't do good, I'll die for sure
Though I don't want to

I better damn well do good tomorrow
To scratch how I did on Friday night
If I don't do good, I'll die for sure
Though I don't want to

But I don't want to
I don't wanna die...!
If you KTOS, in the line "From such a liar", Billie Joe makes the word "from" seem like it's two syllables, so that's not a pacing error. Just so you know. Oh, P.S., I did fine on my recital on Saturday night. When I submit this one, I will be submitting another parody about my recital on Saturday night. I don't know what song I'll be doing, so if you really want to know how I did, click on my name and find it. Hope you liked this- vote on it and leave a comment.

Pink Panther - August 07, 2006 - Report this comment
I submitted a follow-up parody to this, but it didn't get through for some reason. Too lazy to try again, and can't remember the lyrics. Maybe I'll try again sometime. Right now, though, I'm busy with another parody.
