Parody Song Title:

"I'm Walking Home"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Based on a true story.
I'm in an endless sea
Of hybrids, compact cars and SUVs
None belong to me
But that's fine with me 'cuz I'm walking home

I sit in class 'til three
Listening to all - my teachers teach
Half the students sleep
But then the last bell rings and I can go home

I'm walking home
I'm walking home

I'm walking home
I'm walking...

My friends all drive; sometimes I wish I could, too
Except the traffic after school is a zoo
Most of the students drive like they've gone cuckoo
Hey man, I'm walking home

Wa-alk, wa-alk, wa-alk, wa-alk,
Wa-alk, wa-alk, wa-alk

I'm walking down the street
Traffic zooming by - on hot concrete
Feel my aching feet
But I must push on 'til I get home

It's a constant fight
With my backpack on I list to the right
Lost an inch in height
I'm gonna hurt tonight after walking home

I'm walking home
I'm walking home

I'm walking home
I'm walking...

I have a friend who drives a dark blue Corvette
He asks me why I don't have my license yet
I tell him when my lesson's done I'm all set
'Til then I'm walking home

Wa-alk, wa-alk, wa-alk, wa-alk,
Wa-alk, wa-alk, wa-alk

I'm walking home
I'm walking...

And when I cross the street
Someone nearly runs o-ver my feet
Hope for no repeats
Or I might no longer be walking...

I've been a - witness to an accident once
And saw a mom who almost ran down her son
Sometimes I wish that I could just take the bus
'Til then I'm walking home...

Oh man, WMJ, I can sympathize. I'm a high school sophomore with a really late birthday (July 21) so everyone else gets their license before me, but if that isn't bad enough, my parents won't let me get my license until I'm 17! Which basically means I'll have to spend all of junior year bumming rides off people...arrrrgh! But I digress. Good job here.

I had to take the bus until my senior year. Walking home was out of the question since it was 15 miles each way. Favorite line: "Lost an inch in height". Well done, Jay.

(SOTM) - Maybe not the funniest in this round, but certainly not an all out pedestrian take on the subject. ;-)

(SOTM) From one Green Day parodist to another, I can say that you really served the song with this parody, not one line out of place. The pacing may have been off in a few places, but not enough for me to take off points. You just might be walking home with a Song of the Month. This one is five-worthy. By the way, do you have a license to parody?

(SOTM) This parody flows very smoothly, unlike after school trafffic.

(SOTM) I never have to walk home...thank goodness. I HATE walking. Anyway, brilliant parody, wannabeamustangjockey. One of the few parodies this month which I don't have to download an mp3.

(SOTM) There were a couple of places where the pacing was just slightly off but, overall an excellent job with this one. 555

Nice one working some of that car knowledge into the opening. Also, very good pacing. This song is quite fun to do.

SOTM: Well done. With gas prices, you're a step ahead of the rest of us!

(SOTM) See above, and though this is syllable-perfect with great rhyming, I had to emphasize a few words in the choruses differently to get it to sing like Green Day does it.
