I met Weird Al Yankovic (by stumbling into him in a market). He was looking at bottles of California wines. He was dressed with a Guatemalan (?) type poncho on his shirt and a leathery hat with a downturned brim was on top of his head of shoulder-length hair. He is as cryptic, comical and a bit goofball as on stage. We talked briefly and he asked if I was going to show that night, of course I said yes. He fist-dapped me and told me he was going to get some ice cream and he had to get ready for the evening. I respected his privacy. He's a cool guy. A few hours later I attended his sold out show at the Palace theater and he gave us 3 hours of terrific comedy and parody. It was sweaty and grubby inside that night but no one cared. He was always running back stage after every skit, rapidly changing costumes like a snake sheds skin. He was a total RIOT. As we poured out the theater after the great performance, the stifling sickening humidity gave way to a cooling misty rain. A night I won't forget - July 6, 2016. A good time was had by all.
