I've seen the codes to enter on the new sumbission forms. On other sites I'd read that such codes are used to prevent mass-submissions, in spam-like proportions, from automated senders not run by any real person, because only a real person could read such a code as it is displayed. Were such mass automated submissions a problem on the site? And are honest submissions by real people as likely to be accepted as before?

Will any submissions from the last days of the old system get lost this way? For example, I see that the "Combined Groups" section hasn't been updated for over a week now, so some pending submissions might have been by the old system. Are they still on the queue to be considered for posting? And incidentally, what are the chances that the "Combined Groups" page will be updated again any time soon?
nally - March 19, 2007 - Report this comment
Are you kidding? Combined Groups hasn't been updated for over a month now! I like that section. Maybe the editor for that section is either AWOL or on vacation or...something. :-\\
ChuckyG - March 20, 2007 - Report this comment
Mass spamming was becoming an ever increasing issue with those sections, the comments on parodies and other sections has been a problem for awhile now and will be next. I reviewed all the entries in almost every section I could, some I didn't check. There's only one combined entry awaiting approval at the moment, so if your submission isn't there it got lost. I don't see anyone listed as editor for that section, so maybe I forgot to offer it up to someone new after removing the old editor? not sure.
nally - March 20, 2007 - Report this comment
I haven't submitted anything to Combined Groups lately, so that entry obviously isn't mine. Maybe you did forget to offer it up for grabs...I'm not sure either. I might like it, but I have what, half a dozen sections at the moment?

Is the entereing of a Security Code "case sensitive"? Or cay one type in lower or upper caes letters interchangeably and make it work?
ChuckyG - March 22, 2007 - Report this comment
it is not case sensitive. I discovered that through trial and error. I must have entered them a thousand times in the process of testing the new scripts here and on the other sites I use them on now

Something must be amiss relative to latest Misheard lyrics stories submissions. The set of five newly posted lyrics stories, as updated for today, March 25, has the first two stories showing something for "Misheard Lyrics" but "Original Lyrics" or "Correct Lyrics" is left blank. I'm familiar enough with the top song cited in this update to know that what is cited as "Misheard Lyrics" is actually the real lyrics, so the misheard lyrics as cited by that poster must have been left out and the actual lyrics cited under "Misheard Lyrics". The same must be true also for the next song below the top one. Even though I'm not familiar with the song, the story itself makes sense only under such an assumption. The poster speaks of mishearing "Budweiser" in the song, but that is not in what are cited as the "Misheard Lyrics", which I'm guessing are the actual lyrics, or at least what was subitted as the actual lyrics.
ChuckyG - March 26, 2007 - Report this comment
appears there was some weird problem that caused a whole bunch of misheard lyrics to lose their misheard part when submitted. They were wrong on the regular section of the misheard lyrics site too. No idea why, makes no sense, because the problem seems to have started and stopped within the same day.

I just figured out what I did. When I converted the forms over, the datafile for the misheard lyrics submissions needed to be changed. Looks like I screwed up the misheard lyrics field. I should have them saved on my work computer still. Unfortunately more work for Indy Gent since he'll have to review them all again >groan<.

Hi OK so I submited Billy Ray Cyrus to the list of singers who act and David Kersh to the new career section like a month ago but my submissions didn't show up so if you've fixed this please let me know!
Guest - March 27, 2007 - Report this comment
On a similar note, why is it that when we submit corrections on misheard lyric entries, that the corrections are never taken care of? For example, there is one entry for Michael Jackson that lists the song title as "Petrone" when it should be "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough." I submitted a correction on that entry several months back, but nothing has ever been done about it. What gives?

Has anyone noticed that now when one clicks on "submit" for "Remove A Letter", the page that comes up has the heading of "Change A Letter", just the same as if one had clicked on submit from a "Change A Letter" page? That seems to need to be corrected. Meanwhile, where are submissions getting directed to when one clicks on "submit" from a "Remove A Letter" page? - to "Remove A Letter", as one is probably intending, considering where they clicked on the "sumbit" link from, or to "Change A Letter", consistent with how the submissions page reads? By the way, regarding the previous poster's inquiry, the submissions page for "correction" and/or "submit different misheard lyrics" has completely quit working since the "security code" feature was installed. And for quite sometime, even while it was working, the submit button at the bottom of that page has read "Review Parody" where it should read "Submit".
ChuckyG - March 28, 2007 - Report this comment
Billy Ray Cyrus is currently listed twice on that page (he's not on the latest index page anymore, maybe it's not clear there are more pages to that section).

The lyrics corrections, haven't been upgraded to the new forms. No one is currently reviewing the submitted corrections, so I'm just going to remove the link for now. I though I had already removed the link, so I'm not sure why it's there still.

The remove a letter page had the right submission form on the latest entries page, but the individual index pages did not. I have fixed it.

Oh sorry I forgot I actually submitted Billy Ray one of those two times! "smack self upside the head" but now what about the New Career page? I submitted ex - country singer David Kersh and what he's up to now a little under a month ago and it still hasn't appeared could you please tell me why? it would be much appreaciated regards Jonathan

As for those submissions that were posted on one or two days with the real lyrics under "Misheard Lyrics" and the "Real Lyrics" field left blank, will they be corrected on the pages where they first appeared, or be reposted correctly under a new day's updates?
Regina - March 28, 2007 - Report this comment
I noticed that the "submit" page for misheard lyrics seems no longer to have the instructions to Insert a
between lines. So Didn't do so last time I submitted misheard lyrics. Is inserting a
no longer the thing to do? I noticed also on a few recent postings that the notation [Later] appeared between some lines when they seemed to be actually consecutive lines in the songs in question. I just wondered if that might be a result of inserting a
if the form no longer calls for it.
ChuckyG - March 29, 2007 - Report this comment
It appears the David Kersh entry didn't make it in there for some reason, you'll have to resubmit it, sorry. I don't know why it didn't make it in there.

The misheard submissions that were screwed up have been found and fixed. However they have to go through the approval process again, so it might take a couple days before they show up again.

The BR tags, I guess need to put an explanation in there for that again.
