I've been waiting for this movie since I first heard it was getting made and can't wait for it!

It looks like the next Cat in the Hat movie: fart jokes, gaudy scenery, zero faithfullness to a classic, and a main character you HATE just from watching the trailer.

Yes, that DOES have to be the most annoying background music in any movie trailer. And I think it's safe to assume that the remake won't come close to the original. The original is a classic; the remake looks just really cheesy.

heh heh, wonka looks like a chick...

sadly yes... depp's characterization of Wonka - as opposed to Gene Wilder's, with its requisite class, style and giddy imaginative zing - has a shitty, madonna-esque "english" accent, and looks like claire danes with really bad caps. disappointing. i really expected big things from the re-teaming of depp and tim burton (scissorhands, anyone?). oh well, we'll always have the original to re-live. we can block this one out of our collective memories, can't we?

I have mixed feelings about this remake of the 1971 version of Willy Wonka And the Chocolate Factory. I am only 24 years old, but I love Gene Wilder's role in the movie. I like Johnny Depp, too. I cannot tell my friends, because they would say "out with the old, in with the new". 1971 is not that long ago, and the Original version was extremely well made. I wonder how Gene Wilder would feel about this remake. I will go and see the movie, even get the DVD when it comes out, but it really is not the same as the original.

It's Tim Burton. He doesn't make sucky movies. And Johnny Depp is my hero. I LOVE the original...but there is no way this film is going to suck...sorry.
