o_O Umm ... what? Alice Cooper. Christian university. They go together like, in the words of Simon Cowell, "chocolate ice cream and an onion" (although, admittedly, Simon was describing how John Stevens and Latin music mixed).
Your Worst Nightmare - May 06, 2004 - Report this comment
Maybe the Christian University paid her to insert subliminal messages into her songs. Who knows? And Funky Monkey, they also go together like a hot dog and a muffin. Which isn't too appetizing, at least not to me.

hey now, Alice Cooper might be crazy, and looks pretty messed up, but a person can really have a kickass time at one of his concerts. but church and alice cooper don't really belong in a sentence together....

Well .... it's one of those crazy things .... after all think about it, I think I remember reading that Alice Cooper's real name is Vincent Furnier ... *giggle* Vincent Furnier! Ahahahaha!
Matthew - May 08, 2004 - Report this comment
Well, Alice Cooper (or Vince, whatever you wish to call him) has said time and time again that he is a Christian. And judging by the fact that he donated quite a large sum of money to this college over the years, it's not exactly surprising to me that he received an honorary doctorate.

Some people are really sad...they only look at outside and side shows and say Alice doesn't belong in a sentence with anything christian...he has been a christian for a while now, already became one in the 80's but didn't got very vocal about until the 90's. His appearance has always been part of the show, but I guess some people will never get the difference between a showman with class and humor like Alice and some real dead beat demons with no sense of humor at all. (Yea, I especially mean a sick person called Marilyn...)

I met Jeff Fenholt, former lead singer of Black Sabbath yesterday in Nashville. If you haven't heard, Jeff is now a preacher. I asked him about Alice Cooper and it is true Alice has genuinely become a true believer in Jesus Christ. A true born again person. He had been hanging out with Pat Boone and yep, he got saved.

Geez, some of you americans really hang on this idea of "well, I used to be a bad person, but all I had to do was accept Jeesuus and oh my I woz saved." This person Jesus would (probably is) amazed at the array of wankers who claim they are following or have been "saved" by him. Also, "Andy_Warhola", Marilyn Manson is an extremely intelligent ARTIST, who exposes the glaring hypocrisies of your culture and religion, and encourages people to THINK for themselves.and not be cowered into fearful submission to (your)God, country , leaders, war , consumerism or whatever. Calling him a demon shows what an absolute sheep you are. Born again christians are the worst type. Bush is one...need I say more. God doesn't care what religion you subscribe to, and he certainly doesn't want idiots to go around harrassing others to believe in what you believe in or you're stuffed. So many issues to think about in these crazy times, your country has a lot of changing to do, and the first thing you need to do is get rid of the idiot war pig Bush....
Things aint that simple - May 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Alice Cooper was an interesting artist, now he's older and more "normal", hence his induction into the loving bossom of mainstream religion . By the way, it's so great that such a morally upright, civilised Christian society such as yours is "liberating" all those poor misguided muslims, and showing them the (your) truth. Obviously those prisoners needed a bit of tough love hey? Iraqis obviously don';t want you there. I probably should go to a more appropriate website for this stuff.

I couldn't agree more with your last sentence. Parodies of pop culture are hardly worth getting your knickers in such a twist.
PizzaGuy4God - June 01, 2004 - Report this comment
Yeah, it's cool and all that Alice Cooper has accepted Christ as Savior, but we shouldn't be "demonizing" other entertainers if we don't agree with their message - ie, Eminem, Marylin Manson, etc. - we should do like Christ Himself teaches and "pray for our enemies." (I'm not saying these people should be considered our enemies, just borrowning the phraziology.) But heck, listen to KJ52 - he's prayin' for Eminem... As for the comment about Christians being sheep: well, there's a lot to be said of sheep in the Bible, for sheep know the voice of their shephard. Will you when the time comes? Yo! Pray for those with whom you do not agree - and pray for yourself should you also have a wrong understanding. Seek out the Truth of God's word in all that you would do and say, and ask for His wisdom - for if a man truely seeks after the wisdom of God and asks Him in all sincerity, will He not give it to them? (That's not a quote by any means, but I have found that the answer in my own life has been a resounding YES.) Delivering more than pizzas in His service, Z. David

Judy, "preach it, sister!" What does the Bible say, "They'll know we are CHristians by our love (not condemnation)?" Looks like there are a lot of people who've posted here who really need to spend more time in their Bibles and learning about who Jesus REALLY is, not just the popular misconceptions...and some of the passages about judgement...

O--k...if alice cooper is a christian..I feel let down!!
Alice's Sister (in Christ) - January 12, 2005 - Report this comment
Why do you feel let down? Because God is a loving, forgiving God who's Son willingly died so we could ALL get into heaven because He didn't want to be apart from us? You have just as much of a chance as Alice to get into heaven, you know. By the way, read the lyrics on his album, Brutal Planet...definite spiritual messages there. Talks about how Satan will suck you in by promising you everything you want, but, oh, by the way, there's a price. Talks about trusting in your Saviour. Do you read your Bible much? One scripture says, "For it is by GRACE that we are saved, not by WORKS, that no one should boast". Not one of us has the merit on our own to be good enough to get into heaven. We have ALL sinned and fallen short of perfection. But God provided the way through Jesus Christ (and if you doubt Jesus, try reading Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, who picks apart historical, archaeological, psychological profiling, forensics, the whole 9 scientific yards to search for Christ's historicity and claims; by the way, he was an athiest before his search...!) for us ALL to be forgiven. Even Marilyn Manson, if he should so choose to repent and ask CHrist to be his Lord...choke on that one!!! :-)

Coffee Guzzler - January 24, 2005 - Report this comment
Historical Note: The phrase "the Lord helps those who help themselves." was first used by the ancient Greeks. A quasi-faithful translation of the original text went, : "Along with Athena ('s help), move your own hands", meaning that the gods would help those that acted.

Ah, thank you! I always wondered where that came from, because I know it's not in the Bible, though everyone seems to think it's there somewhere.
Christ's Sister (in Alice) - January 28, 2005 - Report this comment
I never said it was in the Bible. This, however, IS in the Bible: "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." (I Timothy 2:11)
Alice's Sister (in Christ) - January 30, 2005 - Report this comment
OK......maybe you should go back and study a bit of the historical stuff.....Jesus was the world's first feminist, freeing women from male oppression, and his followers carried on his messages. Read "What Paul REALLY Said about Women" (forget the author, book's out on loan right now). Might be an eye opener to customs and traditions of the time, as well as the several different Greek words used in various locations that mean slightly different things. Like, "submit" in the TRUE context in THAT particular scripture means to let your husband go first as into battle (the Greek word used is likened to a military leader leading his troops into battle), so he can be the frontline. Something like that...not very good at explaining, but this is the gist. Funny how so many people take scripture SOOO far out of context to use for their own ends!! What else does the Bible say, not to add or take away anything from scriptures, something like that? In a sense, isn't that what this is doing, without having historical context? Even Case for Christ by Lee Strobel has some of this in it - as far as the view of women. Thank God I serve a liberating Savior, not one that puts me in bondage!!
Christ's Sister (in Alice) - January 30, 2005 - Report this comment
"What else does the Bible say, not to add or take away anything from scriptures, something like that?"

Of course that wouldn't include entire books written to put a palatable spin on problematic (albeit very direct) verses like the Timothy one above.

"Funny how so many people take scripture SOOO far out of context to use for their own ends!!"

Like, say, every religious zealot EVER?

"Thank God I serve a liberating Savior, not one that puts me in bondage!!"

Thank God, indeed. Here's one of the many things He says about bondage: "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life." (Leviticus 25:44-46)

The comments immediately above demonstrate the problems inherent in viewing the Bible simplistically, as if it were all one big inspirational self-help book or instruction manual instead of as a collection of many writings directed at many different audiences within many different historical contexts throughout an incredibly expansive scope of time. While there are many Christians who embrace the simplistic view because they received a certain kind of religious education, there are many other Christians who don't embrace this view.
Christ's Sister (in Alice) - January 31, 2005 - Report this comment
Amen to that. Unfortunately, there is an inverse correlation between believers' understanding what the Bible is NOT and their anxiousness to tell you what it IS.

Only God sees our hearts. We can not judge someone by their apperance. When a person is saved he then produces fruits of the spirit. Kindness, charity, love. Every action is done with an attempt to please God and not the world. Unfortunately when you are a celeb. The whole world critiques you, without personal experiance of you. ALL people have this dramatic change with in themselves when they come to let G-d love them the way that he wants to. And speaking from a dramatic change myself, I don't even recognize the person that I was, when I was not in G-d's will. I am not perfect but He who lives in me is. I love you Alice Cooper, and I join with you in your prayers that the souls of the listeners that you once swayed, are set on fire RED HOT for the Messiah!!!

As a 47 yo disciple of Jesus (for 20+ yrs), I recently listenened to Alice Cooper who i well remember enjoying when I was 18. My only comment is that his music really was not very good although there were some good licks and some good rhythm. But I would stick to more mainline Zepplin, Hendrix, Doors for much higher levels of composition and musical capability. Personally I am a lousy muscian (not a bad dancer) so I give Alice credit to get as far as he got. I appreciate Al Capone's statement - it is all just a show. Alice was probably always a pretty neat guy as I suspect is Eminem - he is just expressing that part of us which is sick and tired of the bullshit from the us government that is mercilessly engaged in poisoning farmers fields, water supplies and children in Colombia - I would like to say Bush is responsible for this - sadly, Bill Clinton is really responsible for Plan Colombia and Bush is simply maintaining the us gov's voracious appetite for violence (I won' t be calloused enough to give an explanation suffice it to say that "Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy" (you be the judge of who is energizing the us gov and its fascist terrorist war on the peaceful human beings who greatfully and respectfully use the beautiful psychoactive plants that the Creator has provided to us - appreciating them and Him for this blessing. i guess everyone digressed. i just wanted to know the deal about aliuce being saved. Alice was a great rocker and his band's first 5 albums are some of the best in rock history. He was always a symbol of youthful rebellion and thumbing your nose at authority so I'm kinda bummed that he is full on christian now but that's his choice. Kinda hard to rationalize "dead Babies", "Cold Ethyl", "Mary Ann", "I Love the Dead", "Go To Hell", etc. with the christain faith but hey, it doesn't make me like his early music any less. I saw him back in the early 80's and he still put on an incredible live show back then-I think I still have a blood stained billion dollar bill from that show!!

Atheists should look in the mirror and start thinking. They usually think that science is the answer for everything. I just won the national physics competition here in my country so I suppose I can say that I know a couple of things about science. And the most important thing to know about science and other 'secular' stuff is that it explains nothing in the long run. It is nothing but a very very useful tool. It is known, for example, that the amount of entropy is growing all the time and in every process (dunno if I said this correctly, my mother tongue is far from English...). So, if the direction is from order to disorder, where did the order come from? The Big Bang is nothing but a theory that can't even explain the very first moments of the universe. The theory foretells many things that have been discovered afterwards, and I think it's a great theory for these useful scientific purpose, but unlike many people think, it doesn't explain the beginning of the universe. Another thing is that there is no reason to assume that we could see (or hear or smell or whatever) everything that exists. We can see the stars and planets and other things, but we can't see the microwaves. We can hear sounds ranging from 16Hz to about 20000Hz, but we cannot hear the sounds that bats make. We can smell a fart but we can't smell carbon dioxide, for example. With the required equipment we can detect microwaves, we can detect sounds we can't hear, and we can measure how much carbon dioxide there is in the air. However, if our senses can't tell us everything about the surrounding world, there is absolutely no reason to assume that our Geiger counters and other lovable instruments could show us everything that exists in this world. And while you're looking in the mirror, think what makes you a living person. When you die, there will be neither chemical nor physical changes in you. Of course, after a while there will be changes: your heart stops beating and your brain stops working. However, you could kill yourself and still people could take some cells from your arm, for example, and keep them alive and watch them do the same things they did when they were a part of your arm. Yet you would be dead. Why? The answer is that your soul (or whatever you wish to call it) would have left your body. The more I study something scientific, the more convinced I am about the existence of God and Jesus Christ - and also the devil. (Not that I need to be convinced any more, I've always been a christian and believed in God.) Nevertheless, I have to emphasize the word 'believe'. If it wasn't about believing, we would know that He exists(* and consequently be actually forced to believe in Him. We can't deny something we know, but you can deny something I believe in, right? If we were forced to believe, it wouldn't be love. God has given everyone the right to choose if he wants to believe or not, because He loves everyone. And now the point of this: I was glad to find out that Alice has chosen the path I believe is right. *) I said 'we would know He exists' and not 'we would no whether He exists or not' and I have a reason for this. No-one can ever prove that there is no God, because someone can always ask "what if our world is like an aquarium?" You know, this world is three-dimensional. A surface of a ball is two-dimensional, and if there were some two-dimensional creatures living on it, I could see them but they couldn't see me. That is because I have three dimensions that I can use. If this world is a three-dimensional 'surface', someone with four dimensions could see us without being seen. Furhtermore, the surface of a ball is curved. To be curved, it requires a third dimension (the ball is a three dimensional object, but it's curved surface is two-dimensional). So, if this universe is curved, like Einsteins theory foretells and like it has been found out, there has to be a fourth dimension. Lastly, I'm sorry I bothered you with such a long post (which was quite off-topic, too) and with my faulty English. I hope you understood what I tried to say. Thanks for everyone who read this!
