Best Comedy award gets very little respect. The local paper didn't even list it. They don't present it. And It's usually won by someone who just records their stand -up act. Comedy movies rarely win Oscars. I guess PDQ Bach didn't release an album, or they would have given it to Peter Schickle. Al has deserved to win for almost every album. Mari and have run into this mentality often. At songwriter organizations we are "too funny" to be appreciated as real musicians, and at comedy clubs we are "too musical" to be considered real comedians. It's like when the British press asked Ringo if he was a Mod or a Rocker. I hope you all remember his answer.

And he's got some great originals on the CD as well as parodies!

They changed the rule that Comedy Recording applied only to Non-Musical works, which is stupid because that pretty much applies to Spoken Word Recordings anyway. For once NARAS gets it right.

If given the proper marketing and exposue, I believe many writers here would deserve a grammy. =) I think I'll noninate Spaff & Robert Lund. They did all the difficult and challenging tasks to produce their Christmas CD. I think they put out a very comical and professional product. Way to go !!!!!!

Poodle Hat is very fun to listen too, so it's only fair that he gets another Grammy. It would be nice to get a moment in the spotlight, though. does anone know where i can get instant fame from my parodies other than Amiright? would like to possibly record all my songs for a cheaply priced album, to fulfill number 8 on my "things to do before I die" list.

First record then find a record deal simple as that

Record your parodies as neat and clean and professional as can be (as your budget allows), then send a tape to Dr. Demento. Hopefully it tickles his fancy enough that it becomes a featured hit. Make a web site so you can sell your wares directly (that's the modus operandi of many of the popular artists on Demento nowadays, such as Lukeski.)

The author of the parody has authorized comments, and wants YOUR feedback.
