Misheard Lyrics:
Good sense, in a sense, cripples mankind.
Original Lyrics:
Good sense, innocence, cripplin' mankind.
To me, it makes more sense than to (accepted) lyrics. Good sense or knowledge can cripple mankind. Since "ignorance is bliss", knowing something we cannot change can bring frustration, anxiety and sadness...which do indeed cripple mankind.
