I recall we were already playing the "unedited" version, and I thought he said an expletive, but said nothing to management (not that they cared then like these days). Then after the song was already in the top 30 Atlantic curiously issued a "special rush reservice" copy of the song that ran :10 shorter than the one we were playing. I reviewed it, and sure enough they edited out the suspect line. We never played the edit, nor ever got a call about the suspect lyric. Only in the 2000s did the unedited version start appearing on CD's.
