Misheard Lyrics Stories -> Latest Entries

"Hung Up," Madonna
Misheard Lyrics:
Tango spies, so slowly
Original Lyrics:
Time goes by, so slowly
Story about this misheard lyric by: Genna: I'm 20 now and when I was about 8 my brothers and my cousins and I (they're all at least five years older than me) were listening to the radio when this Madonna song came on, which was one of my favourites. I was happily singing along when the chorus came on and I of course sang 'tango spies so slowly' they found it absolutely hilarious and they still sing it at me today, especially when I'm with friends or boys.
"Spirits in the Material World," The Police
Misheard Lyrics:
We dusty and sly
Live from day to day
Original Lyrics:
Where does the answer lie?
Live from day to day
Story about this misheard lyric by: Matthew Benson: Sting’s annunciation was Jamaican ska influenced, so it wouldn’t have been unusual for him to pronounce “sly” as “suh-lie”. I think I was misled by him singing “does” more like “duss”.
"Panama," Van Halen
Misheard Lyrics:
Reach down between my legs and ease the seed bag
Original Lyrics:
I reach down between my legs and ease the seat back
Story about this misheard lyric by: Marianne: My husband sang this when we were dating. I laughed so hard I wet myself.
