Story about this misheard lyric by: Henny Kerman: When I first heard this song, more than 35 years ago, I was shocked at what seemed to be a underhanded anti-Semitic slur. I imagined that Mr. Weinstein - Lane was a notorious, half-Jewish, South London club manager who was despised for cheating his musicians and customers alike. Now, after all these years, thanks to this website, I finally know the truth. Merci beaucoup!
