Misheard Lyrics Stories -> Latest Entries

"I Want to Know What Love Is," Foreigner
Misheard Lyrics:
I wanna be sedated.
Original Lyrics:
I want to know what love is.
Story about this misheard lyric by: Wisnu Aji: Actually, I listen to this song on local radio stations that held western songs since long and Rock Channel already have this song and now kept in other playlist. In the past, I feel misheard with this song because I think that the song is "I Wanna Be Sedated" from Ramones (mainly sung on the first and second chorus repeatedly until fade out). However, after months of studying this song on the internet, I finally found a song whose lyrics mistaken as "I wanna be sedated" and the song that I found earlier is "I Want to Know What Love Is" not "I Wanna Be Sedated". It is revealed that the song "I Wanna Be Sedated" was originally a punk rock song not slow rock song. Also, the duration of the song is more than two minutes and is not comparable to "I Want to Know What Love Is" which is about five minutes in duration.
"Sweet Home Alabama," Lynyrd Skynyrd
Misheard Lyrics:
This ol' band here wants his skin,
And I think it's a sin.
Original Lyrics:
I miss 'ole' 'bamy once again
And I think it's a sin
Story about this misheard lyric by: Julia: I thought this was part of the reference to Neil Young, that they wanted to skin him.
