Misheard Lyrics Stories -> Latest Entries

"Edie (Ciao Baby)," The Cult

The dog sleigh at your feet, Edie wind caressed your cheek.
Original Lyrics:
The dogs lay at your feet, Edie
We caressed your cheek.
Story about this misheard lyric by: Shannon: I've been singing it this way since I was little. About a year ago, a friend heard me and cracked up before correcting me.
"I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea...," Fall Out Boy
Misheard Lyrics:
And trust and love all the hoes
Original Lyrics:
And trust, and love, and hope
Story about this misheard lyric by: Tyler: I still hear it as "hoes" and I don't know why.
"Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy," Fall Out Boy
Misheard Lyrics:
When you fascists
Were making out with Pat Stump
At 4 in the afternoon
Original Lyrics:
Brand new fashion
Of waking up with pants off
At 4 in the afternoon
Story about this misheard lyric by: Tyler: I guess I just thought Pete was mad that some fascists were kissing Patrick? I don't know I can't understand any of these songs.
"Mirror Man," Human League
Misheard Lyrics:
Here comes the Mirror Man - Says he's a pig-boy fan.
Original Lyrics:
Says he's a people fan.
Story about this misheard lyric by: Kent Owl: Human League are a Sheffield band. Phil Oakey supported Sheffield Wednesday. Sheffield Wednesday call Sheffield United "The Pigs". If you actually listen carefully to the end of the track you will hear the sound of a pig grunting behind the very final lines of the song. Of course it would have been too inflammatory to include "pig boy fan" in the lyrics and may have lost a lot of local (Sheffield) fans.
Misheard Lyrics:
and now I smell ass on my hands
Original Lyrics:
and now I smell gas on my hands
Story about this misheard lyric by: Laila: I was listening to this song without wifi so I couldn't even Google the real lyrics, and for like a week I was singing it as ass.

Seagull Screaming Kiss Her Kiss Her
Seagulls can't scream. I know there are lots of absurd band names, but this one really seems to "take the cake". I can't understand how they came up with a silly name like this, or what it is really supposed to mean. Submitted by: Landon
