Misheard Lyrics Stories -> Latest Entries

"Let My Love Open the Door," Pete Townshend
Misheard Lyrics:
It's mine now open the door
To your car.
Original Lyrics:
Let my love open the door
To your heart.
Story about this misheard lyric by: Aaliyah Fiona El-Mas'ri Akhetemset: Embarrassed myself singing in front of my ex-girlfriend's father when i was 17 (in the mid-20-aughts). Thought it was a funny song about a carjacking. I had only been in the United States for three years at that time and English is not my first language. My friends had introduced me to Weird Al and a few Youtube comedy songs, which I thought was a common feature of American music outside of the pop stuff all the people here pretend to hate that we mostly hear labeled as "American Music" in the rest of the world. Turns out my friends were just really into comedy music that i could see telling a story about a carjacking in love song format.
"West End Girls," Pet Shop Boys
Misheard Lyrics:
A Western town in Danubois where Eastern boys meet Western girls..
Original Lyrics:
A West End town, in a dead end world
The East End boys and West End girls.
Story about this misheard lyric by: Mike c: That's the way it sounded.. it made no sense but I thought it related to the Danube river somehow.. smh..
