Actually, my mom misheard this one. I'd been taught the song in third grade. I was singing it in the car, and mom misheard me and immediately began freaking out 'Where did you hear that!' So I told her the teacher taught it to us, and she was all set to go down and throttle the teacher. I had thought that the word she was freaking about was a 'darn' that occurred later on, and was parroting back to her the rationale I'd been given for why it was okay to say 'Jesus' in a song, but you couldn't say it otherwise. This did not simplify matters. It made for a very interesting car ride to say the least. Eventually, she realized the actual words, stopped freaking and refused to explain what she'd thought I'd been singing.
